Jamie Thompson Hired Her Son Despite his History of Domestic Abuse; His Role is Knocking on Doors of Families Across the District

Entry Overview: Remember last week when we shared the story of Jamie Thompson paying her son to work on her own campaign? Now information shows her son has a domestic violence conviction.
Key Facts:
Her son, Jackson Thompson, was charged with domestic violence in September of 2025.
State Representative Jamie Thompson paid her son $24,690 from August 2024 through December 2025.
Jamie Thompson used her position to introduce a bill that would directly benefit her son.
Why it Matters: Jamie Thompson has used campaign funds to directly pay a member of her family who has been charged with domestic violence. These types of payments both bring into question how Thompson prioritizes donor money and her commitment to protecting members of the community who have faced domestic violence.
Full Entry: As we reported earlier, Representative Jamie Thompson has paid her son a total of $32,070 from campaign contributions. Those payments are not the only time Thompson has used her position of power to benefit her son.
Rep. Thompson introduced House Bill 5447 on December 23, 2025. The bill would dramatically expand the avenues for probationers to earn probation supervision credits, which allow those on probation to earn credits towards an accelerated conclusion to their probation period. These new options would include earning an academic degree or vocational certificate or participating in full-time employment or vocational or job training. It also creates an avenue for probation officers to simply recommend shortening probation periods by up to 60 days.
People in her district are right to question why Jamie Thompson would hire anyone with a pending domestic violence charge to knock doors on behalf of her campaign.
